Maintenance Tips
-
Annual certified servicing: Have the raft serviced yearly by a USCGâcertified life raft service station to inspect seams, inflation systems, hoses, hydrostatic release, and repack the B packâit ensures safety readiness and maintains approval.
-
Protect storage: Keep in a cool, dry, UVâprotected area to prevent canopy, tube, and fabric degradation; moisture and sun can weaken materials over time.
-
Inspect container & cradle: Before every voyage, check the fiberglass container, lowâprofile cradle, hydrostatic release unit, and mounting hardware for corrosion, cracks, or looseness.
-
Avoid compression/stacking: Do not stack heavy gear on the container or compress itâpressure can weaken seals and reduce rapid deployment reliability.
-
Verify BâPack survival gear: Make sure paddles, bailer, flares, smoke signals, repair kit, flashlights, and other BâPack items are present and functional (B pack has reduced gear vs SOLAS A).
-
Rinse after salt exposure: Light freshwater rinse of the cradle and fittings reduces corrosion on metal components.
-
Crew training: Confirm crew know deployment steps (auto/manual inflation, boarding ramp, canopy use) to reduce panic and delays
